They say that in New York you can find everything. This includes 92 kinds of pasta that Serkan Özkaya and George L. Legendre displayed at the Postmasters Gallery. They went beyond traditional macaroni art and used science and art to recreate some of our favorites and ones that we never heard of. From capricci to the college kid staple of spaghetti- they were all there. Now, we've gone through the difficult task and picked the top 3 kinds of pasta to use.

1. Penne

Who doesn't love biting into a mouthful of penne to be pleasantly surprised that more sauce was hiding inside the tubes? When the sauce is irresistible, we want more in every bite. That is why penne is number one on our list. Serve these little trains of deliciousness with a cream or a tomato sauce and it is sure to be a hit! They also are great for the base of a light flavorful pasta salad.

2. Fusilli

It's fun, twisty, and not as tight as its relative rotini; thus, easier to chew and sauces love to cling to it. For a quick crowd-pleaser: toss the pasta with a homemade pesto sauce, sprinkle some parmesan cheese over it, and garnish the dish with some basil on top.

3. Fettuccine

Think of fettuccine as spaghetti that bulked up at the gym because it can do all the heavy lifting. Usually found covered with an alfredo sauce because of its strength, fettuccine gets overlooked for the diverse pasta that it is. Next time you have guests over for dinner, surprise them by serving fettuccine with a creamy tomato sauce.
